Frank Chu for Congress

If any of you have ever lived or worked in and/or visited the Bay Area, you will have, at one time or another, seen a little Asian guy with a limp and a protest sign named Frank Chu.

Frank is one of those gems in San Francisco that makes San Francisco San Francisco. He's a one man mission, a self-contained protest with charisma to match Bill Clinton and tenacity to match George W. Bush. He's crackers, nuts, a wack-job. He's beloved by San Franciscans far and wide and, in the greatest form of flattery, has become the subject of many a Halloween costume over the years.

I used to walk past Frank at least twice a day on Market Street in San Francisco. He parades all over the Financial District/ Embarcadero/Market Street area with his signs proclaiming the need to impeach presidents past and present--he's an equal opportunist and non-partisan that way--and "guilt them" to multiple galaxies in numerical configurations that scientists have yet to acknowledge.

D.C. could use a real Frank Chu or two. Not the rational or vigilante or trust fund baby protester types who camp out and protest nuclear weapons or insist on bringing home MIAs or call for the impeachment of Clinton or Bush or who hate the IMF and the World Bank. Frank is a breath of fresh air in the world of protestors and he leaves many of us who live and work (or lived and worked) in the Bay Area feeling secure. In a world of inconsistencies and uncertainties, Frank is a constant presence and a comfort.

Here's to Frank Chu. And Frank, if you ever run for Congress, you've got my vote!
