Yo Ho, Yo Ho, A Pirate's Life for Me...

Finally! The third installment in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise opened yesterday and I went with my siblings to see At World's End. I've decided not to say a lot about the film, except to say this: if you liked the first two, go see this one. And don't forget to stay through the credits. You won't regret it.

Out of five stars, I give this one four.

We caught the 9:00 pm show Thursday night and I kept nodding off during the last 45 minutes. No reflection on the film. Had there not been a stressful day at work followed by Mexican comfort food for dinner, I probably would have been able to keep my aye-ayes open.

Johnny Depp--yummy as always. Blast, we didn't know to stay through the credits. What'd we miss?

You'll have to see it again to see what you missed! If I told you what you missed, I'd spoil it for everyone else. ;-) There was a bit at the end of the second Pirates that a lot of folks missed, too, because the credits were so long. As a result of Pirates II, we suspected the same would hold true for this movie, so we sat through all ten minutes of the credits in high anticipation. Our patience paid off and we were well and justly rewarded! (In fact, I'll just this, it made the seemingly real ending a bit less ambiguous.)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Johnny Depp...

Guess I'll have to force myself to watch Johnny Depp *again* for the sake of the post-credits reward. Though this time, not on a weeknight.

ME: If it's any comfort, I didn't realize there was an additional ending after the credits in the first movie. I was watching it the other night and decided to watch it. Boy did it clarify the pre-credit ending of the second movie!

The moral of the story is: sit through the credits in the Pirates' movies. It's worth the wait. (Of course, with DVD, you can just fast forward through them...)

We rented the first one over the weekend and have viewed it some 10 times since -- even Jasper loves it. Glad the sequels are also fun!

AV: Have you seen Pirates 2 yet? And did you watch the second ending at the end of Pirates 1? Make sure to watch that, as it will clarify an significant scene at the end of Pirates 2. Glad you're enjoying the franchise. Johnny Depp is brilliant and really carries these films well!

P.S. I just saw Pirates 3 for the second time tonight!!
