On the Eighth Day, God Created Chevre
And He saw that it was good.
And that evening, the Goddess found the chevre and did wrap it in thinly sliced smoked ham. And She saw that it was better than good.
In fact, it was divine...
And speaking of divine, the above photo is a shot of Humboldt Fog Goat Cheese. If you like goat cheese, this is the one to serve at your parties or to give as a gift to friends. It is lucious. You can get Humboldt Fog at Whole Foods, Wegmans, and purveyors of fine cheeses.
In addition to the Chevre jambon d'Italia Dr Lala brought from France, she also brought gruyere, blue cheese, more chevre, cream for pouring over fruit or pastry, chocolate, and Smurf gummies.
I'm thinking I should be looking for jobs in Europe. Unfortunately, I'd probably eat my way through the experience.
That's not a bad thing, is it?
Thanks, Dr Lala! Loved having you here this weekend. And next time, I will succeed at making Red Velvet cake.

Hah! No red velvet cake was had? My seething envy is SLIGHTLY soothed.
Okay, I kid you not: My word verification? "bgwomb" - uh, how the HELL do they know that??!? Well, it's gone now...
It is not a good thing to see such lusciousness the first thing in the morning after a hellish weekend. I'd like nothing better right now than a bottle of wine, grapes, crackers, and that lovely cheese.
Hugs :)
Swizzies: Noooooo. Darn it all! All that work for nothing. Actually, there were several things that didn't go well and resulted in really icky, I-wouldn't-feed-it-to-my-dog cake.
I used canola instead of vegetable oil. The flour I had is only a couple of months old, but I probably should have used fresh. And, I think I beat the batter way too long.
The result: a cake that was the consistency of cornbread and that tasted like old oil and flour. The color turned out spectacular, though. I suppose, if you just wanted a cake to look at and that was pretty, it was a success. If you wanted to actually eat it, it was a total failure.
Still, I'm going to try again. It was the first time I'd made a cake from scratch and I want to get this right! I'll let you know the next time I attempt this (which may be this weekend, that's how determined I am.)
Sideon: I'm sorry you had such a bad weekend. It's one thing when the week is bad, but when it's the weekend that sucks, well... that just blows!
I say get some wine, grapes, crackers, and some cheese and pamper yourself!
